"Recommending: Traveling Pants Series"

Months ago when my CP, Tina, recommended the The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, I picked up the first book and fell in love with 4 young best friends, with their unique personalities and personal dilemmas. I cried when I read the story, and knew I'd become a faithful reader to Ann Brashares's work.

Since then, I have read The Second Summer of the Sisterhood, and book 3, Girls In Pants. Yesterday, I saw the movie. When a book is made into a film, you worry how much will be changed by Hollywood cinema, but in the movie only subplots were altered, a few minor characters cut out to make the screen version simpler, and I wasn't disappointed. Each girls' internal conflicts were still there and the individual journeys they took with the special magical pants.

Ann Brashares makes you care for these girls, has you follow along through their ups and downs, their mistakes and their victories. The stories she has told make you laugh and make you care. Makes me as a writer to want to push myself to share stories that touch people somewhere inside themselves and allow them to connect a piece of their lives inside a book.

Will I ever be able to do so? I'm not sure, but I can try. If you haven't had a chance to meet Carmen, Lena, Bridget, and Tibby, I highly recommend you give them a try. =)
