"Just Some Thoughts"

Anne wrote in my comments, "I went through a similar revision process with editors for about two years before I got an agent. That was back when many series writers didn't have agents. It took 4 years from first page to first sale. Your journey is a great thing for struggling writers to read. It puts it all in perspective. Some people don't realize how damn much work and heartbreak is involved."

First I want to say (or write! ;D) thank you to Anne for this. For her to share information on her journey is inspiring. I love Anne's books! She started out in romance, winning a RITA, and now writes USA Today bestselling thrillers. She is an example that when you are a writer, you definitely pay your dues, and your hard work will eventually pay off as long as you keep at it, keep working, keep hoping.

Another thing I'd like to say is I'm glad I can share my journey here. From time to time, someone will pop out of the blogosphere or e-mail me and comment that they enjoy reading my blog, and feel it's a good read for writers. To be honest, I'm glad other writers feel this way. One of the main reasons I've decided to share what goes on in my writing journey, is because while I was first writing my book, very few would share much of the writing/submission process. Occasionally I would ask a question on a loop, and receive a few answers, but I was still left with feeling I didn't know what it was all about or what to expect. What I've come to realize is that the writer's journey is slightly different for each writer, and that it's something you have to experience yourself and make your own. Opportunities and open doors will appear and you have to sneak through each one before they close. LOL! Corny analogy, but true. ;D

So I'm glad I can share, and hopefully some bit of interesting advice will get through for someone. Or I can at least make you laugh from one, or several, of my HUGE mistakes! *snicker*

You're welcome! I don't think I've been blog spammed yet! One of forum threads on my author forum got spammed a couple of times though.

I wish blogging had been around when I was struggling to break in. It's a great resource for support, and yours is one of the best! :)

I do so enjoy reading about your journery. I love hearing about struggling writer's journeys. Published or unpublished. I've been at this a lot of years. More than I thought it would take to break in. Though in the last two years I've taken it much more seriously and really hit it hard on submissions, learning even more about the craft, keeping up with the market and business side of things. I'm hoping it pays off soon!

You may be spammed eventually, Gina! Beware. LOL!

Suzanne, thank you! And I'm so glad I have the blog to sort of vent the writer ups-and-downs, and share with other writers who understand. Otherwise it would sure get lonely. =D

Kacey, good luck! One of the things about writing is always learning, whether it be craft, market, or the industry. And your hard work will pay off, I know it!

Hey, at least you got interesting blog spam! All I get is spam from online casinos. *g*

I've gotten so hooked on blogging. It's too funny how I avoided it for so long. And I love hearing about other writers' struggles. We're not alone!
